OUR VISION ...
"For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one boby being many are one body,
so also is Christ. For by the Spirit we were all baptized into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free
-- and have all been made to drink into one spirit. For in fact the body is not one member, but many." - 1 Cor. 12:
12-14
We believe in a body ministry. A number of years ago, I was studying under a pastor from Panama, the late
Sisinio Bernal. After class one evening I asked what difference he saw between the churches in Panama, and the churches in
the U.S. His answer was simply that "You don't work together. In Panama we do work together. The Baptists realize that they
can't do it all, and the Pentecostals realize that they can't do it all, and we get together..."
If we are honest with ourselves we know that his words are true. And we see much the same
thing in Mexico that we see in the U.S. One of our goals since returning to work in Mexico is to develope a network of
pastors of like mind from different association, and denominational affiliations who will work with us, and be willing
to cross over their denominational differences for the greater good of the people in their communities. We believe that as we achieve this, the body of Christ will be strengthened and more souls will be reached for the
cause of Christ. We understand that it will take time and won't happen overnight, but we believe it is right, and what scripture
encourages us to do. Please pray for us in this endeavor.
SHORT TERM MISSION TRIPS...
One of the things we have found over the years of working on short term mission trips is that when you come
down with an open heart and an open mind, God works in very special ways. There is very often a bond of love that developes
between those who come and our Mexican bretheren who serve along side them. It is amazing not only how quickly these bonds
develope, but how strong they become. Doesn't matter that there are the language, economic, educational and cultural barriers.
God does a work in the hearts and lives of those who are open to Him. He changes you. - And the results
are eternal.
2007 Mission Teams
MARCH 18-22, 2007
We hosted a mixed group from 2nd Assembly of God in Joplin Mo. and Riverton 1st Baptist Church , Riverton
Ks. This was our first short term mission team for the year. We had a pretty busy schedule and some very long days. Our team
ministered at 4 different churches, in Matamoros & Isla Fantasia. The team was also blessed to spend a day in
ministry with our friends Jack & Sol at Handiwork 4 God. We ministered in services for both children and
adults.
We also spent a day working with Pastor Enrique Torrez and the guys from Clamor En El Barrio in Matamoros.
This is a christian based drug rehabilitation program similar to Teen Challenge. The guys went out with our team doing door
to door evangelism and then helped in the late night service at the park. We had been with them in service on other ocassions,
but this was our first time to work along side them. They shared some powerful testimonies of how God had redeemed them and
was working in their lives. Some of the guys were bi-lingual and that was such a blessing as they were able to communicate
and serve as translators with our team as they ministered together in the colonia.
June 14-17
Bro Pedro Figueroa from Tulsa Ok, & Pastor Ismael Diez from Rio Piedres Puerto Rico and their sons were
here with us for a 4 day revival and evangelism outreach with the pastor and congregation of Iglesia Gethsemani in Matamoros.
