GOD HAS USED THESE WINTER TEXANS TO HELP MARTA START HER OWN DOUGHNUT SHOP

The photos below are another example of God using our Winter Texan friends to make a difference in the lives of those they touch in Mexico.

Each year during the winter months the mobile home and RV parks in the Rio Grand Valley are filled to capacity with senior citizens from all over the northern U.S. and Canada.  We had the opportunity recently of meeting some of them in Mexico who were there volunteering their time and talents for the service of our Lord.  Our hearts were touched by the stories of how God was using them. This page is dedicated to them and to the work that they do for the Lord touching lives, and being God's helping hands in a far away place.

The Winter Texans are involved in a variety of ministries. They build homes, churches, soup kitchens, they come down and get involved in the lives of people here in Mexico, teaching them and helping them to start their own businesses so that they can support themselves and their own families. They get involved in churches in Mexico, teaching and helping them to find ways to begin their own missions projects. They also  volunteer time in Bible institutes here in the Valley. Some get involved in taking other Winter Texans on mission trips exposing them to the needs and to the possibilities that exist.

They have put a whole new meaning on the retirement years. The freedom that retirement brings gives them the free time to go with their lifes experience. They use that time and their expeirence to begin a whole new life for themselves in the service of our Lord. And in doing so, they give a  new life to the dear souls whose lives they touch.

For a lot of them, their work and ministry doesn't end when they leave the Rio Grand valley and make the trip back home. One couple we met will be going back home, only to leave again to go to another people for whom the Lord has given them burden. Cuba. Others will go home and raise money for their projects, some will be returning at various times in the year to help out and continue their involvement in the the lives of the people they met over the winter, and bring with them others to come and visit  the work and perhaps see how the Lord might inspire them.

In our culture the elderly are often forgotten and put on the side. What we have been reminded of through the lives of these people is that the future is not only in the youth as we are often told. Our senior citizen have an equally vital role to fulfill in God's plan for mankind. He truelly does save the best wine for last.(See John 2)
